A Kids Eye View of SDCC 2009

One of the aspects about the SDCC that seems to go unnoticed year after year is the increasingly kid-friendly atmosphere that's been quietly developing there, especially over the last 5 years or so. The number of porn queens assaulting con-goers with their breasts has tailed off dramatically, while the amount of attendees going as family units has risen. Yeah, it's loud and crowded, but the kids generally seem to love it, and if they do get overwhelmed, you can always drop a few bucks on the Kids Services daycare center and let them get their play/nap/eat on while you wander off for an hour or two by yourself to catch a panel or get an autograph from one of the remaining porn starlets. I was actually able to hit the floor for an hour or so on Sunday, and it seemed to be a successful Kids Day, with plenty of prepubescent superheroes running around.

This year, The Wife™ was kind enough to snap some pics of a few of the younger con-goers, since they almost always seem to be forgotten in the various costume photo galleries that pop up right about this time of year. Of course, it's heavly populated by Supergirl, but she did her best to get as many other characters in there as possible, despite The Kid's™ unusual reluctance to pose for photos with anyone other than Spongebob...
