Not sure what prompted this article about kids' picture books, but it's a solid one. Much of it has to do with parents passing along their favorites to their kids, which I do find to be a fascinating facet of modern parenting. My parents didn't really read my brother and I their absolute favorites (if they had any), for example -- they started pretty much from square one with books as far as I can tell.
Not sure what that means. Maybe it's a part of the continuing wrassle Generation X has with nostalgia...? I just don't think the books my parents had read to them meant as much to them as, say, Strega Nona and Blueberries for Sal mean to me for whatever reason.
Anyway, I do know we recently picked up The Pokey Little Puppy for The Squirt, and man, it's really just kind of a weird little book. Was always more of a Harry fan, myself...
