Comics + Wrestling = DVD Homage Covers

Everyone knows that pro wrestling and comic books go hand in hand, like peanut butter and chocolate. Overly muscled men and women beating the snot out of each other while wearing spandex costumes? Why, that describes both of them to a T! The only surprise then, when I stumbled across this gallery of DVD covers that are direct homages to (mostly) classic comic book covers is that it hasn't been done sooner.

Chikara's a small fed, located in the northeast US that features a hybrid of American wrestling with Mexican Lucha Libre and Japanese Puroresu. The wrestlers are colorful and extremely talented, and the storylines are every bit as fun as you'd imagine. I don't get to watch much of their output, but I've enjoyed what little I've seen quite a bit. With any luck, they'll get some sort of TV deal sooner than later so I won't ave to rely on crappy YouTube clips to get my fix.

Below I've posted a few samples of their DVD covers - there's plenty more to look through here.
