Andrew, The Boy™ got this same table when he was The Squirt's™ age. I can't tell you about why the legs could not be removed and yeah, he need a f/t parent with him when he was playing with it but man, did he love being able to get Cheerios out of that little compartment right next to the book. I think that he played with that table for a good 8-12 months.

Since this isn't marketed to children and clearly states on the box that it isn't for children, I applaud you for doing the bare minimum as a parent and not buying an adult item for a child.

There's ratings on video games too, you might want to check those out...

To the people at Radio Flyer: Put on the brakes!

The charm of the original is in three attributes: 1) The simplicity - or utility - of its design. Kids could make it whatever their *imaginations* wanted it to be. I know we did, 2) The undeniable quality. All our other toys broke and bent. We played very hard and the Flyer was one of the few toys that took it. That and all our Schwinns, 3) It had very strong visual identity. The red color was perfect, the graphics connected. Even the tires and wheels are memorable.

This new one - if it gets made - will forever water down the legacy and eventually kill the charm of the brand. And what about the eco-impact of this new one vs. the old one. Has that been vetted? You are selling to kids, of whom you have an incredible chance to make an impression on.

Take the icon and incrementally improve it. Maybe make it a little lower for stability. Curve the handle for more comfort or put handles on the back panel so it can be pushed more easily. How about designing in stops in the "steering" so it doesn't pass a certain point (that got us upside-down many a time). Better tire material? Eco-friendly paint? Some theme accessories like airplanes or cars (more opportunity for margin)? What about running contests and take their suggestions? There are probably hundreds of things. I watched my kids grow up, too, and found they loved cardboard boxes as much as MP3 players.

The best of luck.

I liked the article but think that full disclosure would have included the fact that the Radio Flyer is no longer made in the US. An iconic American company - I don't think so. I don't think that we should support companies that call themselves American but make their products overseas.

I've talked to a few friends who have received cease and desist letters from their ISP (rhymes with RomBlast) re: music downloads. Thing is, it's for stuff they didn't even download.

I imagine this new plan is going to be even sketchier and will probably result in a lot of innocent people getting shut off for no reason.
