DC Characters Licensed For Rain Coats, Umbrellas And Boots

Apparently Western Chief, the company that makes the Chooka line of raincoats and rain boots has just acquired the rights to develop a line based on some of DC's characters. The obligatory Superman and Batman licenses are in effect, but they've also grabbed Supergirl and Wonder Woman, which is a massive relief to many a nerd dad, I'm sure!

hellokitty_umbrellaEven better, Western Chief tends not to be satisfied with simply slapping a logo on a lapel and calling it a day. Rather, they tend to turn the coats into full-on costumes, and the boots are generally custom designed to look as awesome as possible. For instance, the Batman raincoat will be made to look like Batman's costume, with glow in the dark Bat symbols and logos.

The Kidâ„¢ just got one of their umbrellas (Hello Kitty) and has been actively asking for a rain coat and boots for the last few months. I've been pushing it off since we don't get a lot of summer rain in SoCal, and I know if we get her something now it'll be outgrown by the time she needs it. However, when this new line's October release rolls around, we should be able to suit her up in an appropriate sized outfit to get us through to Spring of '10. Sweet!

Back when I was a kid and collecting Batman comics I would have absolutely loved to walk to school in the rain wearing a Batman rain coat.

I'm quite certain all the other kids in my class would have been extremely jealous too!
