We've trumpeted the conceptual awesomeness behind the Jim Henson Company's cutesy-poo Dinosaur Train show.

Well, apparently the show's been successful to some degree, cuz now there are going to be a series of books starting in Fall 2010.

One can only hope this leads to other amazing Nerd Dad-approved edutainment mash-ups like "Shark Astronauts" or "Vikings on a Spaceship."

When it comes to the holiday season, nothing really surprises me anymore. I've gotten pretty used to the ever increasing mass and crass amount of commercialization that's part and parcel of this time of year. However, that doesn't mean that I won't still, on occasion, see something that will make me stop, scratch my head, and say "Huh...that's interesting."

That happened last night, as The Wife™ and I were browsing though Amazon's line of gift baskets and we came across the following kosher Christmas Gift Tower of Sweets.

Upon reading a little further, I realized that every basket this company makes just so happens to be kosher, but it still gave me pause for a moment, then a bit of a chuckle followed by a quick "Email that to me, hon - I have to post it in the morning." I love the holidays!

Man, today is just firing on all cylinders when it comes to finding deals on spreading holiday cheer to your kids and family! A few things of note:

There's both a Woot-Off and a Kids.Woot-Off going on today! Stock up on Roombas and Hannah Montana MP3 Sticks for the holidays!
Threadless is having a $9 shirt sale today! It actually began yesterday, but as is Threadless' wont, they've extended it through most of today as well. As a matter of fact, it seems like Threadless has been cutting prices here and there almost non-stop for the last few weeks, so I'd suggest keeping an eye on them for the immediate future.
Amazon's offering up a bunch of toys with pretty deep price cuts - up to 60% off in some cases.
Hasbro's got their Deal of the Day program in full effect for 2009. They seem to cut prices nice and deep, as well.
Zazzle's running a different sale every day from now through Christmas. Keep watching their site and you might get a nice coupon to use towards that Nerd Dads t-shirt you've been eyeing up!
