I guess today was the big launch day for the Elmo Live toy. I’m tempted to pick one up for The Kid™ for Christmas, but she’s managed to break just about every automaton style toy she’s been given so far, and $60 is a bit rich for that sort of destruction. Still, it would appear that there are plenty on the shelves right now, so you may want to take a lunch break today to grab one if your kid’s been demanding it from Santa.

Where is the toy store that can devote this much shelf space to a single product, even a popular one? I want to live near such a toy store. Hell! The TRU by me STILL doesn’t carry the Marvel Mighty Muggs!

I took that pic at the TRU in Montebello. They had the entire shleving section that faces the entrance filled with the furry suckers.

For those of us in the boonies, that is truly an awesome sight. At first I was looking for signs of Photoshop but realized that was the real deal. I wonder if there’ll be an parental beat-downs to lay hands on this thing before x-mas. Any bets?

That’s a good question on the beatdowns. I skipped getting one, but the other couple in the store at 10:30 AM did pick one up for their kid, and there was an empty spot or two in the display after the store’d only been open for half an hour or so.
