Independent Mac program developer, MacHeist, is in the midst of a giveaway that no Mac user can afford to ignore. For another 3 days (as of this posting), the company is giving away pretty much their entire library of Mac desktop applications for free. If they manage to hit 500,000 participants in the promotion, then they'll include a free copy of Mariner Write, which I'm really itching to get my hands on.
A quick rundown, in case you aren't sure:
- Shovebox is a program that allows you to store various bits of info you want to make notes of, but don't want to create special text or image files for.
- WriteRoom is a simple text editing program that kills everything else so as to avoid visual distractions when you need to focus on your writing. You have to see it in action to appreciate it, but it's genius in it's simplicity.
- Twitterific is a Twitter client. Some people wear by it, I'm not too convinced, though I admit that I haven't had a chance to play with it too much.
- TinyGrab is a screenshot sharing app, great for Twitter, IMs, emails, etc.
- Hords of Orcs is their game, a tower defense strategy deal. I know that Andrew will be hard pressed not to download the bundle just for this.
- Mariner Write is a word processor that will become available for free if and only if you folks download your copies of the rest of the bundle. I've never had the opportunity to use it, but I'm always looking for a decent alternative to Word, and I hear good things about Mariner Write, so here's hoping that FREE is the right price for at least half a million folks.
