Random Pop Culture Association Theater

Sometimes I think if you boiled down being a nerd to its very essence, that essence would be that you have a lot of useless pop culture detritus bouncing around your brain at pretty much all times. For example, often when I (or The Old Lady for that matter) hear the word "essence," I can't help but think of Skeksis sucking the soul out of Podlings and other living things.

What does all this mean, you're asking? Not really anything. Except that when I caught the mostly-disappointing Terminator Salvation the other day, I couldn't help but think of the intro to the Robocop vs. Terminator game on the Sega Genesis, which has what is probably the most epic and ~~confusing~~ expository opening screen of all time.
