Travel Planners' SDCC Booking System Must Die

Luckily, I was able to get a room for this summer's big Con, if only through the good luck of a friend who was able to hook me up. Me, I was in the system at 9:00 and a few seconds. For the next half an hour plus, I watched the message screen silently mock me, the psuedo-Flash spinner steadily and inexorably circling, circling, while I was simultaneously on the telephone, where I would get the "Ring Ring RinDISCONNECT" at last twice a minute. Once I was told that my bookee by proxy was able to get a second room in the same time span that I was able to reserve exactly none, I realized that once again, Travel Planners had lied to the public. "Our newly upgraded online process will immediately place you in line based on the time of your visit. You'll move right into the reservation site just as soon as users ahead of you complete their bookings," my butt.

So, how'd you do with the getting a room thing? If the comments over at The Beat are any indication, not much better than me.
