We Don't Need No Steenkin' Childproofing

I was presented with this handful of childproofing electrical outlet caps by a very happy and proud of herself little girl yesterday. Apparently she figured out how to pop and pry these from the wall with amazing ease and just couldn't wait to share this news with daddy. Considering these were the only outlet caps I could ever find that were worth a damn, I'm guessing it's time to figure out how to explain to a not-yet-3 year old that shoving forks in the wall sockets is probably a pretty bad idea.

That's irony for you. She treated it as a challenge!

I know, I know - I'm both kind of nervous about what's coming next and undeniably proud. She tends to be a little force of nature, letting very little stand in her way when she wants to get from point A to point NO.

Your experience with outlet covers is common. Slide plates are much better for preventing electrocution. Help spread the word. Check them out at http://www.childsafetyhousecallsproducts.com/Slide-Outlet-Cover_p_15-246.html

    Hey, Dr. James -

Unfortunately, we tired those and she figured them out before she even turned 2 years old. It was a different brand than the one you linked to, admittedly, so it's possible yours are better equipped to stop her, but this is a child that also put 2 and 2 together to figure out to stand on a stool in order to climb over the gate at the top of the stairs at 18 months. She's a pro at circumventing blockades.

I wonder if there's switches which need a key. May be over the top though.
Kids do get everywhere and will try everything.

I managed to open those serial 3 number bike locks before i was 6.
