So, The Squirt™ got this spiffy Learn And Groove Musical Table from her Oma for Christmas:
The good news first: the baby loves this toy. She slaps and tugs at all the little moving, colorful, flashing parts on it like the excitable little madwoman that she is. As I’m sure everyone involved here knows, the songs and noises and all that crap can be a little annoying, but hopefully like me you’ve built up a weird, impenetrable tolerance to them. Or you wear earplugs 12 hours a day. Or they’re driving you mad. Anyway, the point is, when your baby plays with this thing and you look at them from underneath the table, it’ll look like they’re playing pinball!
The annoying news: even though the toy’s directions (and maybe even the box? I can’t remember) say those legs on the table are detachable so that kids who can’t walk can play with it…the legs are NOT detachable. Not even a little bit. Which means if your kid’s like mine and can’t stand yet, if you put in the legs in before you know of this flaw, the toy will require Full-Time Full-Contact Parental Supervision. And if your kid is an active little maniac like mine, that supervision might not even be enough and they’ll try to make some crazy move they can’t do and accidentally fall over and bonk their head and go on a 45-minute screaming tirade and ruin everyone in your apartment building’s morning.
So LeapFrog, make those legs detachable or just say they aren’t detachable in your directions. Thanks.

Andrew, The Boy™ got this same table when he was The Squirt’s™ age. I can’t tell you about why the legs could not be removed and yeah, he need a f/t parent with him when he was playing with it but man, did he love being able to get Cheerios out of that little compartment right next to the book. I think that he played with that table for a good 8-12 months.

My son got this for Christmas and he loves playing with it. Unfortunately we found out after we put the legs in that they don’t actually detach. It says it clearly on the box “detach legs to play on the floor”. I even contacted technical support and they told me to press the switches in on the leg toward the center of the table. Needless to say, that didn’t resolve the situation because there were no switches. Just a heads up, Fisher Price makes a comparable table and about the same price (with detachable legs).

That’s interesting. We too bought this toy for our little man and the legs are detachable.
